Another Sonyas Experience

As promised, we treated a couple in a very healthy lunch at Sonyas Garden on the day before the valentine. It was actually an act of gratitude for letting us stay on their home when we visited Hongkong last year. It was more exciting since they are bringing their little Sophie on the tour.
Being in Sonyas is always so special. I always tell everyone that the garden is meant to be shared with someone so special. In fact it was always a dream place for me. Everytime I come over, i know im into a feasty treat. No guilty feeling because i know no matter how big or small the portion is, we would be eating not just healthy but delicious food. It is not just the food for the intestine, it was always actually food for my soul. A haven outside of the metro, where everyone can just relax, sit and enjoy everything that the eyes can see.
The last time ive been here was i think four years ago. A lot has been changed but the feeling stays the same. Maybe because my style is the same...country, tropical...truly pinoy. Once in the garden, the rose smell is so distinct, a smell which is the trademark of being here.
A big dining hall full of antique chairs and lamps filled up the space. A combination of wooden planks and painted concrete, capiz window panels and colorful chandeliers greets everyone upon entering.
There are i think three dining halls which can be rented depending on the number of guests. Each dining halls marked the evidence of being a filipino, all dressed up with antiques. Tables are set up with different chairs to give more character and visual interests. I am so in love with their tables and chairs.
Green salad and their freshly baked bread are the first to come to those who dine in. Homemade dressing and dips are excellent. You can just simply choose your preference or simply taste all. The freshly squeezed dalandan juice with a small mint leaf on every glass is a hint on what to expect. The fresh mango, pineapple and turnip gives the appetizer freshness and variety. You wont noticed you had eaten so much because there are in an endless refill everytime.
The main course is a flat pasta with white, red and vegetable sauce. You cannot resist tasting it all. Garnishings such as black olives and natural seasonings are nice addition. Salad from appetizer also adds perfection to the pasta. No one can stop you from eating so much because the guilty feeling was no longer there, veggies and pasta is such a no sinner.
Of course everyone is treated to a very sweet and pinoy dessert. Super moist chocolate cake, with turon and caramelized sweet potato makes evey sweet tooth smile the whole day. It balances all. It fills up your craving for something sweet, a thing that will never be forgotten after the main course.
Finally everyone is treated to a very aromatic tea. With the actual leaves on your cup, everyone is again treated with deluxe. The tea erases the sweet taste of the dessert but not the fun and the memories of how you ate so much and never be afraid or being guilty about it at the same time. Truly dining in Sonyas garden is a very memorable one. Something to be treasured for a lifetime.
Of course, it is not just their resto which we find so appealing, even the whole garden are amazing. A walk on the entire garden is always a must everytime. You can do it before or after you dine. A greenhouse where all the plants and table set ups are always welcome for couple who wanted to be more romantic. It was so beautiful that all of a sudden youll feel that you are just a part of nature.
Walking through the entire garden, you cant help but notice so many sitting areas and you cant ignore the presence of day beds. These are so relaxing and so beautiful that you will always opt to have your pictures taken. I always wish i have one at home.
Every part of the garden is a conversational piece. Theres a lot of fountains and other water features that makes the garden more relaxing. There are also water features before the doorsteps with lots of rose petals and other blooms. Just walking onto the garden makes you smell like roses.
Again, its an amazing experience, and once you felt it, the wanting of having to go back in Sonyas Garden lingers. Memories are being created everytime. I just cant wait for another Sonya's Garden experience. Sonyas'...till we meet again...

Make Me Home No.4

Welcome to Make me Home edition 4. Weve been doing the dining, living and kitchen already and i guess its proper to feature a bedroom as well. This time, i want to feature a bedroom which is so typical to a filipino setting where the bedroom is shared by siblings. It is a common fact that due to limited space and budget, room sharing is an option to a modest family. Though privacy may be a little bit of a problem when sharing a space, intimacy and healthy relationships can be strengthen by sharing a room with someone who are dear to us. This room may be bit of a challenge for me. When i saw the room, i thought, a bed with a pull out will definitely solve the small space problem. But, its kinda ackward for someone to sleep on the pull out right? In fact, sleeping in a pull out is just an option for a sleep overs. It will be greater and even righteous to give a bed to everyone so they can have a space of their own. So i envisioned a "chic retreat style" for this bedroo

The L shaped Sofa

An L shape sofa is a sofa that is literally designed in the shape of an L. It is designed like this for a number of reasons, and is a great choice for many different kinds of living rooms. Many people are buying L shaped sofas these days, in fact, for all of the benefits they offer. So, in case you have not been able to witness these benefits firsthand, here they are! First and foremost, an L shape sofa gives you more actual sitting room than does a regular sofa. Why? Well, because there is simply more of it to sit on! There is the main section (much like a normal couch), then, there is the elbow (a very relaxing spot to sit, I might add..), and the rest of the L on the end...which is usually the size of at least a small loveseat. And since there is so much room on these pieces to sit, you can fit a lot more people onto an L shaped sofa like this than you could on a regular sofa. The next benefit that an L shape sofa gives us is the benefit of being more affordable. Now, at this, you

La Residencia Almar...my home in Dumaguete

This is La Residencia Almar in Dumaguete City where i stayed for six nights. Actually, this is my second time to stay in this hotel because i was here last year. I opted to stay again in this hotel because i love the view in its front and it is smaller than the usual hotel located in Dumaguete. In front of the hotel is the famous Dumaguete Boulevard where a lot of people, local and tourist gather every morning and at night to see the majestic view of the sea. But what makes me desire to stay once again is tits beautiful interior, a Balinese theme which i always love in every home. The nice lighting fixture greeted me as I enter the hotel. This is spectacular especially at night. I love the simple but colorful detail at the base of the chandelier. The nuetral paint, with mostly beige, white and brown accentuated by several niches where an old jars are kept in display, trimmings and wooden pieces makes me think that I am in an old world retreat but never forgetting the asian herit
