Creating your space

Having a room with a theme is makes the room cohesive and complete. This is how i manage to design my room as i call it my asian inspired bedroom. Asian inspired palette doesnt mean that you would stick to red, golds and blues. A nuetral color palette with the right accessories can make up the room. The right element should always be present. Common on asian dwellings are the presence of wood and other distinctive asian accessories like bauls and buddhas. A little bit of it goes a long way. Here, the very distinct and the focal point should be the bed with the capiz headboard. This should empasize the theme. Common bedroom accessories like books and linens should also compliment the design. Adding a little pop of color will make the space alive and vibrant especially in a very nuetral space like this. Epic failed?

Yesterday or honestly, these past few days, i was so eager to change the drapes at home. I guess i really wanted to change the DIY drapes which my mom sew for me. Well, not that i find it ugly but i really want to achieve the sophisticated look. Ive seen samples on my mall visits and i want to try one. So i went to the mall and bought enough for my living room. And of course, i am so excited to hang it. But unfortunately, im not satisfied with the over all look. It looks sad and unfinished. I went for earth tones but it failed. I dont even know why. Here is the pic.
