Before...After

No one can underestimate the wonder of colors and the changes that i brings. See, ive been living with nuetrals for so long. And reading many homestyle magazines open up my world on the idea that my home was never made up for creams or nuetrals. Personality wise, my house should be filled with colors, just like my life.

One day, when i got home, i noticed that my house should not be boring as it is. I need to livened up the color, i need to change it, and i feel it needed some splash of color.

And it was so perfect since summer is still on its intense. One more thing, i can now have the first taste of a tropical inspired color and see if that will bring "outdoor feeling" on my nest.

Finally, i challenged myself to be bold and bright. And making the final color choice is so hard. Honestly, im sleepless the night before the painting day because i just couldnt imagine the outcome of color. It can make or break. But i said to myself that i have to do it, i should not confined myself on safe color. Im bright, im bolder so i have to transpired it on my own home.
chose a nice blue tone on my living room because i want tranquility. And everyone will agree that blue brings serene and restful feeling. Secondly, turquoise is my birth color so it have to be represented on my life.

And see how my beloved frame popped up against the blue wall. The frames are more noticeable and my comfty sofa was now highlighted. The wood console table become one of the focal point while red and orange accents scattered all over the place. Truly, wood and blue goes together. The end product is a much nicer wall color which goes beautifully on the old pieces that i have. The light curtain really goes well with the blue that truly represents a vacation feel.

Finally, i rearrange some of the flea market finds for a fresher look. The outcome is a space which is not boring at all. I love the blue color, i love the coolness that it brings and makes me feel that im on the beach or under the clear blue sky. Perfect haven for me.
My cream was also painted on my dining since these two rooms, my living room and dining room are adjacent to each other without any dividers. I thought before that changing the color of the two will make the room smaller and divided. But i noticed that these rooms were never identified and doesnt have the personality of their own.
I decided to paint my dining room yellow for a more sunny feel on the space. I have an existing maple and green dining table so painting the wall yellow will be a nice contrast to the dark piece on the room. The rice dispenser, though a sore to the eye piece at every home breaks the yellow wall and somehow connect the living room color on the dining. In fact, these two colors, the blue and yellow is the perfect combination for me. The intensity of the two colors compliments well without overempowering each other. The outcome is a more lively space, distinct, non traditional but still entertaining as well. My capiz mirror is now highlighted and making impact on the space as an accent. The while lace curtain makes a statement also on this space.

One of the diffence is the removal of Green Tree colored accent wall on my entertainment area. Though i still love its color and green is also a nice break on a blue room, i think its grabbing attention on my green and orange cabinetry so to break that and to highlig
ht my cabinetry on my kitchen, i removed my accent wall. I still love to have an accent wall, but im still undecided on the color and will just choose the right color on the days to come. Anyway, the color of the room develops on us and were loving it. It made the room larger.

With or without the accent wall, ithe room is more beautiful and more relaxing now. Thanks to the wonders of color.

From now on, i wont be afraid of color!

The L shaped Sofa

An L shape sofa is a sofa that is literally designed in the shape of an L. It is designed like this for a number of reasons, and is a great choice for many different kinds of living rooms. Many people are buying L shaped sofas these days, in fact, for all of the benefits they offer. So, in case you have not been able to witness these benefits firsthand, here they are! First and foremost, an L shape sofa gives you more actual sitting room than does a regular sofa. Why? Well, because there is simply more of it to sit on! There is the main section (much like a normal couch), then, there is the elbow (a very relaxing spot to sit, I might add..), and the rest of the L on the end...which is usually the size of at least a small loveseat. And since there is so much room on these pieces to sit, you can fit a lot more people onto an L shaped sofa like this than you could on a regular sofa. The next benefit that an L shape sofa gives us is the benefit of being more affordable. Now, at this, you ...

The Living Room Evolution...

Would you go for a distinct look?... Or something with comfort? Actually, the last pic was my new living room. Though i love the style of my old living room, with my hard wood japanese sofa, it compromise my need for comfort. Honestly, my mother is always complaining that the wood is so hard to sit in and was not too comfty. I bought the japanese sofa last November 2009 because im looking for a japanese themed living room, and voila, i found one and i know its a great deal. Ive been looking for the same kind for so long and this one is I thought perfect for the theme. Unfortunately, and by experience, i cannot last long sitting on the hardwood even if pillows are there for relieve, its just too hard and painful on the butt! So one time when i was in a mall just trying to look for a replacement, i saw this cream sofa made of real wood and leather. It was a perfect choice because it looks like the one in the 4th edition of real home living magazine, the color book which became my inspi...

For this month....

I am so excited to decorate my nest. Its been quite a while since my last blog, maybe because i am so busy for the past few months. Its not just blogging that i missed, also dressing my nest. For this month, i like to see my nest in blue, orange and green, the usual colors that i like. But this month is quite unusual, because i tend to lean on a musculine style, more toned down but colorful as well. Its just that i like to see my nest as subtle as it can be, with minimum decor, restive but colorful as well. Its my character, it defines my style, colorful as always. See how striking the picture is, and its colors...im so excited to use this color palette at home. I also found one big buddha at a local thrift store. Its so beautiful that i was eager to buy when i embraced it. You know the feeling that you are fit to each other, as if you are really meant to be. Thats what i felt when i embraced my new buddha. All in all, i have 16 pieces now at home. I know its an addict...
