Make me Home No. 2 - Bad Kitchen

The kitchen is considered the heart of every home. This is where the family can bond by cooking delicious food as they make healthy conversations . Kitchen should always be inspiring, clean and refreshing for every member of the family.

This kitchen is not that bad at all. The white counter top is a very nice choice though it entails extra care and maintenance. The lay out is also excellent for a small kitchen, and this lay out is easy to style and will definitely add interest by the addition of colors and other accessories.

So here are the suggestions
Since the kitchens lay out is already perfect, and the wood tones are a bit over whelming, painting the cabinet white is an instant make over. Distressing the cabinets are also one way to add character to the space if you want a shabby chic kitchen. Open up the area by removing some of the cabinet doors to open the shelves. This will add more character and lightness to the space. You can display some of the plates, add similar cups or display prized chinas. Be sure not to over crowd the shelves for a more clean look.
Retain the wood tone as a backsplash. This will add character to the space.
Add a colorful window curtain (those with little flower details into it) or hang a basket where you can place your plants or favorite herbs to add color to the space.

An all white kitchen is refreshing if you will inject greens on it. Bringing the outside inside is the trend now. Valances instead of a full window curtain is also nice if you want the space to be airy and to let the sunshine in.
Replace the outdated cabinet handles with a new one. A simple and wooden like handle will fit in on the all white cabinet or a black metal handle with an intricate detail will make the cabinet interesting and tie in the color of the appliances. This will also popped out in white cabinet as not to overwhelm the space in white.
A nice basket of oranges on a black metal basket or in a wooden basket, or an array of the favorite herbs in a small terracotta pots are nice accessories to infuse on a kitchen. This will add color and energy on the space.

Replace the hand towel on the oven and replace with a towel that coordinates well with the color of the valence or the curtain.

Replace the trash bin with a wooden one. If possible, same tone as the backsplash.

Declutter. Clean the counter top. If possible, put all the small appliances behind cabinet doors to eliminate the eye sore in the space.
With the new kitchen, i think this will add more life, energy and more inspiration to create a healthy and satisfying meal for you and for your family.

The L shaped Sofa

An L shape sofa is a sofa that is literally designed in the shape of an L. It is designed like this for a number of reasons, and is a great choice for many different kinds of living rooms. Many people are buying L shaped sofas these days, in fact, for all of the benefits they offer. So, in case you have not been able to witness these benefits firsthand, here they are! First and foremost, an L shape sofa gives you more actual sitting room than does a regular sofa. Why? Well, because there is simply more of it to sit on! There is the main section (much like a normal couch), then, there is the elbow (a very relaxing spot to sit, I might add..), and the rest of the L on the end...which is usually the size of at least a small loveseat. And since there is so much room on these pieces to sit, you can fit a lot more people onto an L shaped sofa like this than you could on a regular sofa. The next benefit that an L shape sofa gives us is the benefit of being more affordable. Now, at this, you ...

The Living Room Evolution...

Would you go for a distinct look?... Or something with comfort? Actually, the last pic was my new living room. Though i love the style of my old living room, with my hard wood japanese sofa, it compromise my need for comfort. Honestly, my mother is always complaining that the wood is so hard to sit in and was not too comfty. I bought the japanese sofa last November 2009 because im looking for a japanese themed living room, and voila, i found one and i know its a great deal. Ive been looking for the same kind for so long and this one is I thought perfect for the theme. Unfortunately, and by experience, i cannot last long sitting on the hardwood even if pillows are there for relieve, its just too hard and painful on the butt! So one time when i was in a mall just trying to look for a replacement, i saw this cream sofa made of real wood and leather. It was a perfect choice because it looks like the one in the 4th edition of real home living magazine, the color book which became my inspi...

For this month....

I am so excited to decorate my nest. Its been quite a while since my last blog, maybe because i am so busy for the past few months. Its not just blogging that i missed, also dressing my nest. For this month, i like to see my nest in blue, orange and green, the usual colors that i like. But this month is quite unusual, because i tend to lean on a musculine style, more toned down but colorful as well. Its just that i like to see my nest as subtle as it can be, with minimum decor, restive but colorful as well. Its my character, it defines my style, colorful as always. See how striking the picture is, and its colors...im so excited to use this color palette at home. I also found one big buddha at a local thrift store. Its so beautiful that i was eager to buy when i embraced it. You know the feeling that you are fit to each other, as if you are really meant to be. Thats what i felt when i embraced my new buddha. All in all, i have 16 pieces now at home. I know its an addict...
